What's better than blue jeans? It's a pair of versatile, comfortable, perfectly-fitting, classic blue wash jeans. And if you think these are too many boxes for one pair of jeans to check, then think again! I'm always on the search for the perfect jeans and I can confidently say that I have found them, or at least I'm getting satisfyingly close to the jeans of my dreams. To say that it's been an arduous journey is an understatement considering the dozens of jeans I've tried and purchased over the years. So you can imagine how rewarding finding a close-to-perfect one feels! These are a dream for so many reasons, including the fact that they come in tall sizing with a length that's flattering to my 5'11" stature. These jeans also serve good flexibility while retaining the structure of traditional denim. Because friends, one thing I haven't gotten on yet is lightweight denim. For some reason, the lighter the denim fabric, the less it feels like denim to me! Another thing that I love about those jeans is the classic, homogenous blue wash that can be dressed up for the office or dressed down for after-hours and weekend errands. This feature makes them so versatile and when you're all about building a capsule wardrobe, that makes a big difference. And let's not forget the waist situation. I've been wearing high-waisted bottoms for a few years now and honestly speaking, I don't know if I'll ever be able to lower my waist standard (do you see the pun here?!) again. These jeans feature a high-waist cut that makes them easy to style with cropped tops and longer ones alike. And the higher waist does something to smooth the mid section and who doesn't like that? Anyhoo, let's jump into 3 easy ways you can style these jeans for the Summer.

1. Wide-leg Blue Jeans with Flared Sleeve Boxy Shirt

Here's a PSA for you in case you didn't know: you can be simple while making a statement. Sounds paradoxical, but the combo of these blue jeans and boxy white shirt proves that it's possible! Cropped tops have been having a moment, and I have not shied away from them. In fact, the right crop length and style can elevate a look as much as a classic top would. Another thing that I also love about this look is the color combination. Blue and white go so well together plus they give off a fresh vibe that's so cooling for the Summer.

2. Wide-leg Blue Jeans with Black Halter Blouse

Halter necklines will always have my heart! I just love how bare shoulders give off a sexy vibe while still being appropriate for a range of occasions. I went for a simple black halter blouse from Express to pair with these blue jeans and black strappy sandals for a chic and versatile look. I wore this to run some weekend errands but nothing wrong with transitioning from a Costco run to date night with that cute top!

3. Wide-leg Blue Jeans with Green Blouse

Effortless style doesn't get easier than a good pair of jeans with a tucked-in blouse. Whether it's a button-up, sleeveless, or voluminous sleeve piece, a blouse is sure to bring elevated balance to the casual flair of denim. And during the Summer, the possibilities are endless with your color choices! Blue and green is another refreshing color combo that I love for the hot season hence this look. I finished it with my Schutz Ully green strappy sandals for some coordinated action and a comfortable touch.

3 reasons why you need sweater dresses in your Fall/Winter wardrobe

3 reasons why you need sweater dresses in your Fall/Winter wardrobe
One and done. This phrase has become synonymous with dresses because of the convenience they deliver. When it comes to style, separates are fun and make for maximum creativity however they also require a dose of decision making. And some mornings, our brains are just not energized enough to decide whether to wear that beige cropped cable-knit sweater or a ruffle sleeve blouse with our favorite black pair of pants. It's on days like these that dresses come into play, to simplify the routine while also ensuring we have a full outfit on before leaving the house. Dresses come in an extensive range of lengths, fabrics, and cuts and there is definitely something for everyone in every season. For Fall and Winter specifically, sweater dresses have become a staple in many wardrobes, mine included! Sweater dresses are made of knit materials that offer tons of versatility for everyday as well as special occasion dressing. Here are 3 reasons why you should seriously consider adding sweater dresses to your wardrobe if you haven't jumped on that bandwagon already.

1. Sweater dresses are cozy

We all love to insulate ourselves from the cold temps when they hit. And for most of us, sweaters are the go-to piece to stay warm. It's easy to throw on your favorite fleece hoodie or knit turtleneck when the air starts to cool off. The great news is that sweater dresses offer the same level of comfort as sweaters, except they require no pants or skirts - the one-and-done factor. You can get a sweater dress as substantial or light as you like to suit your style and insulation preferences. Because I live in Minnesota, and we typically see harsh temps in the Winter, I like to go for heavier knits to ensure I stay comfy and keep my blood circulation going!

This neutral color-blocked look features a simple black turtleneck sweater dress paired with a long sweater cardigan for an easy layered effect. I added a belt for a touch of polish and finished the look with knee-high brown boots for total coverage in the snowy weather. I have to say that this was so cozy, I was able to skip the coat!

2. Sweater dresses are a no-brainer

I spoke about the one-and-done aspect of dresses that we all love. Sweater dresses are no different in that they give us the convenience to get dressed quickly without having to get in the excrutiating debate of clothes matching. Most sweater dresses are dressy enough to be worn alone, and they also lend themselves really well to layering.

Striking color-blocking should not be exclusive to the warm seasons. In this look, I wore a simple moss green sweater dress that I adorned with a contrastive brown crochet sweater and an extra wide brown belt. I went for tall brown boots to accentuate the color-blocking and give the look a coordinated flow.

Spicing up an outfit in January doesn't get easier than throwing a leather jacket on top of it. And that's exactly what I did with this maxi sage green sweater dress. I wore it with a black waist belt to give it definition and combat boots for the streetstyle cool factor. And finally I grabbed my black moto leather jacket for both a cozy and layering effect.

3. Sweater dresses add texture to an outfit

Just like sweaters come in a variety of yarns and fabrics and details, sweater dresses also come in a variety of options. Some offer polished ribbing detail that is eaay to pair with other knits. Some sweater dresses also come with distinctive cable-knit detail. Others come with classic patterns such as stripes or Fair Isle.

For this workwear-inspired look, I went for a striped midi sweater dress. What drew me to that number was the striking yet neutral striped pattern. Gray and beige are mainstream neutral tones we all love and that go with just about any color. For this look, I opted to stick to the dress color palette so I wore a gray belt, gray suede boots, and a light beige coat. The stripes are the real accent of this polished attire and help to blend the colors and textures together.

This burgundy monochrome look is as effortless and polished as it is cozy. I went for a classic, no-fuss ribbed sweater midi dress that I paired with matching tall leather boots and a matching wool coat. While this outfit is great for making a statement, it's also super wearable.

Chocolate and Blue Denim: A Combo You Should Try This Fall and Winter 2024

Chocolate and Blue Denim: A Combo You Should Try This Fall and Winter 2024

You may not be able to have your cake and eat it, but you sure can have your chocolate and wear it! Dark brown has been in vogue this Fall and Winter 2024 and it's been a gratifying treat being able to buy various garment pieces in one of my favorite colors. In fact, I've always had a weakness for earthy tones especially deeper ones. Even for those of us who play with colorful style on a regular basis, going for neutral outfits is still a feat we like to entertain from time to time. Dark brown has been a go-to hue for me primarily because it's close to my skin tone and lets me create those "nude" looks we love for their versatility and effortless sophistication. Lately, I have been knocking myself out with two of my favorite things when it comes to dressing: dark brown hues and blue denim. This combo has become a theme in my lookbook and I'm excited to share some inspiration with you on how to pair those elements.

1. Blue Denim Skirt with a Dark Brown Sweater

Errands deserve better than just sweat pants and cozy boots during the Winter season. I like to spice up my weekend routine with stylish and effortless looks such as this blue denim skirt that I paired with a white button down and a dark brown chocolate sweater. What I love most about this look is the layering of the sweater to create a chic contrast and elevate the casual denim vibe. I finished the outfit with Aquatalia pointed toe boots in brown leather for a coordinated effect.

2. Blue Jeans with a Dark Brown Faux Leather Blazer

When it comes to quick, gotta-wear-something-and-get-going dressing, it doesn't get easier than jeans and a blazer. In fact, this combo is my go-to when I need to look pulled together without taking it to the business professional extreme. And a way to spice things up with this attire is to swap the typical woven-fabric blazer with a faux leather blazer. This brown number from Mango adds that edgy touch and still delivers a classic allure because brown is just great at bringing that kind of balance.

3. Blue Denim Skirt with a Dark Brown Faux Leather Puffer Coat

A maxi denim skirt is one of the most versatile pieces you can have in your closet. A clean denim wash turns a maxi denim skirt into a perfect staple to style in both hot and cold seasons, and also make it appropriate for both business casual and casual dressing. For this look, I paired my favorite maxi denim skirt with a dark brown puffer coat. I topped the coat with a matching wide belt to add a touch of polish to the outfit. And to give the look that coordinated vibe that I love so much, I wore dark brown tall boots. Not only is this outfit super easy and stylish, it is also very cozy and perfect for keeping the cold at bay.

4. Blue Jeans with Dark Brown Turtleneck Sweater and Puffer Vest

Who doesn't love a vest? They are so easy to wear and make for effortless layering. And when it's December or January, opting for a puffer vest is the way to go to ensure one stays warm and comfy. Here I went for an edgy casual look pairing distressed mom jeans with a dark brown turtleneck sweater that I topped with a faux leather puffer vest. That puffer vest had me in a chokehold from the moment I spotted it at a Gap store. The material is super soft, the color is rich, and the insulation factor is spot on. It's definitely a sporty, casual piece on its own, but one that balances dressier pieces beautifully to achieve that sporty chic vibe. I wore the outfit with dark brown boots to play up the earthy tones. You can easily swap the boots for brown sneakers for an even more casual mood.
