Three things I can't live without: my morning latte, hot showers, and good jeans! I'm a denim aficionada at heart and never pass an opportunity to don this wardrobe staple. And it's fair to say that jeans have become more of a staple with the cultural shift to more casual wear that scaled with the pandemic. Dress pants took a back seat while leggings, sweatpants and jeans took centerstage. As jeans have continued to dominate everyday style, their range has continued to evolve to include modern takes on classic cuts, as well as more avant-garde silhouettes such as barrel jeans. On the styling front, we are seeing more ways that fashion influencers and style enthusiasts are wearing their jeans. Bodysuits, blazers, and button-down shirts are all top favorites. But one item that I've gravitated to lately and that delivers every time is a denim jacket. Yes, denim on denim is a well-worn formula and one way to give it an elevated twist is to color-block it.
For some inspiration, check out this outfit featuring blue ankle-length wide-leg jeans with a longline brown denim jacket. The longer top balances the shorter inseam of the jeans and also gives the look a more tailored vibe. The metallic buttons and snakeprint boots add visual interest to the outfit. To dial up the chic factor, feel free to add some pattern with a printed silk scarf or a textured handbag such as the Coach Tabby 26.

Another way to put this formula to work is to pair indigo blue barrel jeans with a white cinched denim top (other options here and here and here). The peplum and barrel silhouettes make for a trendy pairing that still oozes a classic flair thanks to the clean lines. To elevate the look, go for suede dress boots, a large leather tote, and a silk scarf.
