What to Wear to the SS26 New York Fashion Week

I'm back with another post on prints! Remember this post on how I style printed wide-leg pants? Needless to say, I love a good, bold print. In a modern fashion world that overwhelmingly features solid colors, a bold print is the perfect touch to stand out. Prints come in many shapes and forms, some more classic than others such as polka dots or stripes. But prints can be much more than the usual. They can be unexpected patterns set on culturally-rich canvases; they can evoke heritage yet blend seamlessly into the modern backdrop. And adire batik prints do just that. I created this black and white adire midi skirt to weave that flair into my wardrobe. It's a full midi skirt featuring a statement print that is more versatile than it looks. I love a halter neckline for Summer outfits. It's an easy way to make shoulders stand out and also to elongate the neckline. For this outfit, I was aiming for an easy but bold Summer look so I paired my printed skirt with a linen halter top in a light neutral hue and sprinkled the look with bold accessories. The oversized gold earrings, the super chunky leather bangle, and wide waist belt all add to the standout vibe of the skirt. The wide waist belt also helps blend the top and bottom beautifully, and the tie detail softens the look with a feminine aura. And same for the light strappy sandals. This look checks the elevated casual box and can multitask from a relaxed office setting to wedding parties and shopping trips.

Another option to rock a black-and-white printed skirt is to simply wear it with a fitted black top. I opted for a sleeveless square neck top to go along with the geometric print. This is a look that can multitask for work if worn with heels, or be perfect for weekends if worn with ballet flats or casual sandals.

A surefire way to make a black-and-white print pop is to pair it with a bright color. I opted for a bright red button-down linen shirt to create a striking contrast. And to balance the voluminous skirt silhouette and the oversized shirt, I added my wide waist belt. This is a bold yet fun outfit that is perfectly appropriate as workwear and just like the previous look, can multitask beyond work hours.

Adire Batik Skirt with a Graphic Sweatshirt

Contrary to what many tend to think, bold prints are not only great for the warmer seasons, they also play well with Fall and Winter style. For this Fall outfit, I paired my black and white printed skirt with a light gray graphic sweatshirt. I was going for more of a street style vibe and a good dose of contrast. The relaxed graphic statement on the sweatshirt juxtaposed to the more classic midi skirt create an interesting outfit that is simple, yet striking. This would make the perfect look for attending New York Fashion Week or other fashion events. Color-wise, I intersperse burgundy throughout the look to dial up the Fall mood.

1. Off-White Wide-Leg Pants With a Halter Top

This outfit started off as a monochromatic outfit pairing my favorite wide-leg linen pants of the season with a matching linen halter top. I was going for an easy yet elegant look and I feel that wide-leg pants always deliver on those outfit goals. To elevate the look and give it more of a tailored vibe, I cinched it with a wide brown waist belt. I love how it added texture to the outfit without overtaking the off-white look. This is an easy and earthy color palette that works for just about any Summer feats, and this look in particular is perfect for the office and daytime socials.

2. Midi White Dress with A Sash Belt

Needless to say, Summer is white-dress season so it's very fitting that I showcase a look featuring this Summer wardrobe staple. I love the casual cap sleeves, the oversized buttons and the full skirt of this white shirt dress (similar here) It gives a classic vibe that also feels very chic, and easy to wear. To zhuzh it up, I added my Farotelle handwoven Sash belt. A softer belt works beautifully with this look to keep the laidback vibe and accentuate the fit-and-flare silhouette. I finished the look with casual brown sandals for weekend errands.

3. Off-White Wide-Leg Pants with a Brown Blouse

Even when aiming for a neutral outfit, you can still play with color-blocking. Case in point: these off-white wide-leg pants and brown blouse outfit. What would otherwise be an ordinary look had I gone with a simple brown button-down shirt, takes on a sophisticated spin thanks to the statement sleeves and the striking striped sash belt. I love how the earthy tones blend beautifully and just how comfortable and easy the whole look is. This outfit definitely checks the workwear box and is perfect for looking snazzy at the office on those hot Summer days.

4. Off-White Jumpsuit with a Waist Belt

A one-and-done piece will always have a special place in my wardrobe! For an easy Summer weekend look, I paired an off-white utility jumpsuit with leather loafers and a brown waist belt. Cinching the jumpsuit downplays its utilitarian vibe, and instead gives it a chic, downtown flair. For maximum Summer allure, I opted for a large straw tote.
