Yes, sunglasses protect our eyes from the sun, but sunglasses also impart a generous dose of style to our daily routines. When it comes to accessorizing an outfit on the go and without much preparation, sunglasses are the way to go. Think quick errands when you don't have time for eye makeup. A pair of sunglasses, especially one with darker lenses, is an easy way to compensate for a no-makeup day and to bring a touch of gravitas and polish to just about any ensemble, even the most casual one. Sunglasses are also available in light options with gradient lenses that are more see-through and that lend a cool vibe to outfits, day or night. Round, square, butterfly, aviator, sunglasses come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and that means everyone can have a pair that fits their facial features and their fashion taste. Price-wise, sunglasses are all over the place. You can find a pair for less than $20 on Amazon, or spend triple that amount at specialty retailers, or if you're partial to designer sunglasses accessories, you could be in for multiple hundreds of dollars. Now if you follow me on this blog or my Instagram, you'll notice that I love to wear sunglasses. And I prefer them big and square though I also enjoy an oversized pair of aviators! I have collected many sunglasses over the years, some designer pieces, and some on the affordable end of the spectrum. The playing field is wide and the options are endless.

3 Tips to Spice Up Your Knitwear this Fall/Winter

Fashion blogger Farotelle wearing Rails Addy cable stitched sweater, neutral cable knit sweater style, Minneapolis fashion blogger, tips for styling knitwear during Fall and Winter

One of the things I always look forward to when Fall and Winter come around is knitwear. Knitwear is usually characterized by stretchy and cozy materials that deliver tons of comfort during the cool seasons. Although knitwear tends to be worn more casually, there are plenty of ways to spin it into elevated everyday style. Whether it's pants, skirts, sweaters or cardigans, you're sure to find many knitwear pieces that fit your style. I own a lot of knitwear, some very basic pieces, and others a little more interesting. Creating an outfit with knitwear can be fun, especially if you go for an outcome that's not too plain. Here are 3 ways that I spice up my knitwear during the Fall and Winter.

1. Play with color

This sounds like a simple tip, but a bold colorplay is always going to take an outfit up a notch. Fall and Winter are usually neutral-heavy seasons when beige and gray take centerstage. But one thing I've enjoyed seeing more and more over the last few years is knitwear in bold and vibrant hues. And those hues play very well with the neutrals we all love.Β

For this look, I opted for a blue ribbed off-the-shoulder sweater with a camel brown knit skirt and brown western boots. I added a belt for a bit of definition and polish. This is an easy elevated casual look that is perfect for off-hour errands and gatherings.

2. Go for texture and patterns

Texture makes a big difference when it comes to knitwear. Yes you get a lot of versatility with a flat knit, but a little bit of cable action or contrasting stitching adds a ton of style to knitwear.Β

This sweater not only boasts feminine puff sleeves, it also features cable texture topped with contrasting stitching details that make it stand out from the typical beige sweater. I paired it with blue jeans and western boots for a chic and contemporary casual outfit.

The star of this outfit is obviously the burgundy cable knit sweater. Its distinctive texture pairs beautifully with the skirt print and brings a ton of dimension to the look.

3. Mix materials

Head-to-toe knitwear is a vibe that I enthusiastically subscribe to for maximum cozy in the Fall and Winter, but knitwear also looks great with non-knitwear materials. Think your favorite oversized sweater with a pair of faux-leather jogger pants. Or a midi knit dress with a moto leather jacket. Something about juxtaposing different materials always creates a bit of interest in a look.

Striped sweaters are definitely a staple in any classic wardrobe and pairing an oversized one with faux leather pants makes for an edgy casual ensemble that can be worn with heels as office workwear, or with sneakers for casual outings.

Another way to achieve snazzy Fall style with knitwear is to pair a midi or maxi knit dress with a leather moto jacket. This is a favorite combo of mine during the cold seasons. I like the feminine flair of a fitted knit dress paired with the rock-and-roll attitude of a moto jacket. Though I opted for a monochrome palette, you could recreate this combo with color-blocked pieces for even more punch.

The possibilities are many when it comes to pepping up knitwear in the Fall and Winter. These are just a few ways that I go at it, and I would love to hear how you elevate your knitwear game during this time of the year. Chime in in the comments!

Easy Fall Poncho Outfit

Fashion blogger Farotelle wearing a black and brown color-blocked outfit, black skinny jeans with black poncho, poncho outfits, poncho with a wide leather belt style, Ann Taylor striped poncho, Fall casual style, how to wear all black

Fall layers come in all shapes and forms. One layer that I find super chic and versatile for Fall is an open poncho. Ponchos are available in many different styles, some with a button or zipper closure, and some completely open. Though both styles offer plenty of options when it comes to Fall outfits, I'm partial to open ponchos. An open poncho is more like an oversized, blanket scarf that can just be draped over the shoulders to cozy up dressy pants and a white button-down shirt. It's also a piece that can be worn in a more tailored way by adding a belt. When looking for a poncho for Fall, I recommend going for more substantial knit or wool material that looks more rich, but also feels comfy. Ponchos make the perfect layering addition for wide-leg pants, skinny pants, midi dresses, skirts - pretty much anything - whether those garments are donned for work or for casual feats. A poncho definitely delivers on the multitasking front.Β

I scored this poncho a couple of weeks ago and have absolutely enjoyed wearing it. The front and back color-blocking makes it very versatile and timeless. Black and camel brown create a beautiful combo and the edge stripe on the black side gives this piece streamlined and polished flair. I also love the fringe detail which imparts a bohemian touch to this poncho. For an easy Fall look I could wear to work and for the weekend, I went for black skinny jeans with a bodysuit and black slingback pumps. I wanted to continue the color scheme of the poncho while making that brown stripe pop. This is a look that takes no effort to pull together and goes well with a wide belt and a large tote. And what better way to really bring out that brown stripe than with brown accessories? You could also reverse this color play and have camel brown as your main outfit color, or you could even go for some contrast with blue jeans and a white button-down shirt. This poncho piece is full of style and definitely one that I recommend adding to your Fall wardrobe.
