Easy Style Tips for Transitioning From Summer to Fall 2024

Hard to believe it's already August! And although this month is still very much the Summer season - in fact it's usually when we see the hottest Summer days - it's also the month when many of us start to move into Fall gear. Not only because back-to-school betokens the end of Summer adventures, but also because boots and sweaters become more prominent in magazines and at stores. I love Fall. It's my favorite season when it comes to weather and fashion. For me, it's the crisp air, the colorful landscape, the retreat of bugs, and the freedom to play with more textures and layers to create distinctive style. And the good thing is, transitioning from the lightness of Summer to Fall doesn't have to be drastic. Here are three styling tips for easing into the new season.
1. Add Some Layers
Needless to say, Fall comes with cooler temps so best to top those sleeveless shirts with a jacket to stay comfortable. Lady jackets (also known as collarless jackets) are a great way to add a layer while elevating a simple outfit. Light-weight cardigans are another option to stay prim and practical during the Fall. And if you're into trench coats, Fall's definitely the time to indulge!
2. Swap Sandals with Boots
Who doesn't stan for #BootSeason? I love a good pair of boots! And for transitioning from Summer to Fall, nothing beats a pair of brown boots. I feel that you could wear the most summery outfit, and instantly give it a Fall flair with just brown boots. If you prefer to delay the start of your boot season, you could go for closed brown shoes instead.

3. Incorporate Fall Classic Hues in Your Looks
The fashion rules around color have loosened up over the last few years. We're becoming more and more accustomed to seeing classic Summer colors in Winter coats, and grays worn during the Summer. And I love how seasonal hues are being redefined so that Winter doesn't feel so gray, and Summer can be toned down from time to time (because honestly, sometimes the bright just gets too bright!) But when it comes to Fall hues, deep reds such as burgundy remain a strong Fall hallmark, just as marigold yellow and chocolate brown. Wearing chocolate brown pants with your bright blue Summer top is an easy way to achieve that transitional style we all fancy during this time of the year. You could also swap your white Summer blazer with a burgundy blazer for instant Fall mood.
Parting ways with Summer and welcoming Fall doesn't have to be sour! It's about taking it one layer at a time, and making small changes to stay comfy and stylish when temps start to drop. What's the one fashion thing you do to transition into Fall? Let me know in the comments!
